Metric Scale and English

Post by portaleazzurro »

Suggestion: You can always have both values of various measurements (temperature, wind, pressure, etc.) Metric Scale and English?

Hello.
If a visitor to my site click on the link to YoWindow is the temperature in degrees Celsius in my country: and if it comes from
a country where you do not use the metric scale?
Reading this forum I seem to have understood that you do not like the options. However, if this leads to complications, is good.

Ah, now I see the point.
Thanks for reminding me about this case.
I will think about how to satisfy the site visitor from another country.
Probably it is a good solution to choose the unit system depending on the user's locale settings.

Pasha, how about displaying both the metric and the imperial (english) measurements on the YoWindow widget. There are 4 values that needs to be in both measurements, the temperature, the wind speed, the barometric pressure and the 'feels like' temperature. Maybe reducing the font for those 4 values would give enough space to include the second value...

This way, you (or YoWindow gadget) would not have to figure out where the viewer is located as both values would be displayed...

...and would you also like to have the time displayed both in 24-hour-mode and 12-hour-mode (am/pm)?
And some swiss guy would like to have swatch-time display in addition?

Ok it's April, 1st (4.1.) (or 1.April (1.4.) as we metric guys/girls would say) - so this must be a joke!

Hmmmm - at least i hope so...

Now that April 1 was removed, since the interest of others in the forum, not a bad thing to be two different scales customizable.

Just to revive this old chestnut, I am Englsh, so in my desktop version I have customized the display so it gives temperatures in Celsius but wind-speed in mph (this is normal for e.g. BBC weather forecasts). But I cannot do it in the widget, unless there are specific flashvar settings I don't know about...

Any help?

As this argument, I proposed March 28, 2010, raises enough interest to bring back the option of having data on the screen simultaneously scale metric and English.
This immediately for data conversion when to enter into a site of another nation, and partly because other widgets on other sites forecast offer this . :)
